Lapsang Souchong Tea Loose

Our Chinese Lapsang Souchong is bold, full of flavour, and perfect for those who love their specialty black teas smoky.

As soon as you open the pack, you’ll be greeted by a beautiful smoky aroma that’s reminiscent of a night around an open fire. The tightly rolled black leaves of Chinese tea, which have been smoked over pinewood fires, produce a medium brown liquor that tastes just as smoky as its aroma. Be warned, this tea is not for the faint-hearted.

Although the taste is bold and will send your taste buds into overdrive, the initial smokiness isn’t overwhelming. Instead, it has more stealth, and gently creeps up on you climaxing in the aftertaste. And the more you sip, the smokier it gets.

While this tea is great by itself, a dash of milk works well and mellows the overall smoky sensation. The addition of sugar or a dash of honey helps create a sweet and smoky brew that’s reminiscent of those intoxicating flavours you get at a great smoke house.

It also pairs beautifully with our English Breakfast Tea and Earl Grey, as many of customers would be happy to testify. Whichever way you choose to drink it, it needs to be brewed at 100°C for about 3 minutes using freshly drawn water. If you want a smokier hit, then leave it a little longer.

If you haven’t tried Lapsang Souchong before, we recommend giving it a go, but maybe take a 50g pouch just in case!
